Cloud9 won iBUYPOWER Invitational Spring 2017 after defeating OpTic 2-0 in the grand final (16-8 on Cobblestone and 22-18 on Mirage). The $16,000 online tournament kicked off with an eight-team single elimination bracket. OpTic, who used Jason "jasonR" Ruchelski as a stand-in, beat Misfits 2-0 in the quarter-finals while Cloud9 eased past Selfless with the same scoreline. Although Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert & co. lost Nuke—the second map in the series—to Luminosity in the semi-finals, the North Americans won convincingly on Cobblestone and Overpass. OpTic, on the other hand, reached the grand final after beating Liquid 16-14 on two maps in the semi-finals.
OpTic and Cloud9 kicked off the grand final on Cobblestone where the latter secured a 16-8 victory. Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham finished the game with a 30:11 score and a 1.99 rating. Mirage went to overtime as both teams picked up six rounds on their T-sides. Once again Cloud9 came on top to win the map 22-18.
